Number and Math skills are important skills to cultivate in children. Unfortunately, learning numbers can be quite boring. Help your little ones learn numbers and counting through play by letting them build structures using candy!
What To Get
Gumdrops or Jellybeans
Measuring tape or long ruler (optional)
What To Do With It
1. Build 3D Shapes
Get the kids to build 3D shapes such as a heart, a pyramid, a cube and a rectangular prism.
2. Get Counting
These 3D structures make learning to count fun. Get them to count the number of jellybeans or gumdrops they used and even counting the sides of the 3D object.
3. Measure It!
For older kids, give them a measuring tape or a long ruler to measure the width and height of their shapes and structures.
4. Let Them Have Fun
Allow the kids to build anything they can think of. They may want to build a tall skyscraper or a rocket! Can you build a spaceship?
5. Get Stacking
Another way to build structures is to have the kids build a few cubes before stacking all of it. Through this activity, they’ll have to go by trial and error to get their ‘tower block’ balanced.
TWIST: Time It!
To make it challenging, compete with them and see who builds faster!
