It’s Mother’s Day today and it’s the time of the year where mothers are given extra love and attention! Mothers sacrifice most of their time to tend to their family needs so it’s time to focus on her on this special day.
In honour of Mother’s Day and the writers who wrote them, here are the best TV mums who did the best they can for their family.
1. Marge Simpson | The Simpsons
Marge Simpson cares for her family a lot and tries to do the best she can. She gets angry at Homer and her son, Bart, at times but they always manage to make up for it in the end. She has to deal with everyone’s antics and be the only voice of reason for the family and sometimes the town! In fact, sometimes she is like the mother of the town by helping out neighbours and the townsfolk.
2. Morticia Addams | The Addams Family
Morticia and her husband, Gomez are a hot and passionate pair who love their family to bits! The best part is she’s not afraid of breaking the status quo and doesn’t bother to be a traditional mum. She supports her family’s antics and deals with everything in the house calmly and stylishly. Her parenting style is quite laissez-faire but she becomes fiercely protective when her family is in danger.
3. Claire Dunphy | Modern Family
Claire Dunphy is similar to Marge Simpson because she has to deal with the family antics when she is a responsible and organized person! While she can be uptight, she lets loose and doesn’t take herself too seriously once in awhile. She is also a strong woman (she’s brought up by Jay Pritchett after all!) and tries to guide her children the best she can. Well, she actually accepts them for who they are whether they are brainy, blur or a dumb blonde. On that note, an honorary mention for Gloria Pritchett has to be made for her street-smart ways and for bringing up a gentlemanly son.
4. Cat Grant | Supergirl
Cat Grant is a single mother and managed to own her own media empire, CatCo. She is a very busy lady who does it all without complaining and still manages to be motherly to Kara Danvers/ Supergirl, who is only her PA.
In the show, she offers Kara a very good advice that’s also relevant to all women. Cat is a sharp, witty and stern lady. She is unafraid to tell the truth to those who need it and it’s not done to bring them down but to push them to do better.
5. Mary Cooper | Big Bang Theory
Mary Cooper coddles her son, Sheldon a lot but she is also stern with him. She dealt with teachers in Sheldon’s school and put up with Sheldon’s quirks. One of the best scenes between Mary and Sheldon was when a young Sheldon asked her whether she’ll be mad if he doesn’t follow her religion. Mary just said, “You’ll be the seeker of your own truth” despite being a staunch Christian.
6. Chloe Decker | Lucifer
Chloe Decker is a divorced and single parent to young Trixie. She is also a hardworking and effective police detective. While she can be a workaholic at times, she still finds time to spend with her daughter such as making breakfast and sending her to school. Chloe also maintains a friendship with her ex-husband and coworker Dan who still shares parental duties. She also has integrity as shown when she was adamant there was something wrong with a case involving another officer although it made her an outcast in the department.
